Our Mission

SalaryLab was founded with a simple mission: to provide every American worker with free, accurate, and easy-to-use salary calculation tools. We believe that understanding your pay — whether hourly, salaried, or with overtime — shouldn't require a finance degree or expensive software.

In 2025, we launched SalaryLab to fill a gap in the market. Most salary calculators were either inaccurate, cluttered with ads, or required signups. We built a different kind of tool: clean, fast, and privacy-focused, with calculations based on real US tax and labor data.

What We Do

Our platform offers seven free calculator tools that cover the most common pay scenarios:

  • Salary Calculator — Convert annual salary to hourly, monthly, weekly, and daily rates
  • Hourly to Salary — Project your annual earnings from an hourly wage
  • Salary to Hourly — Break down your salary to an equivalent hourly rate
  • Overtime Calculator — Calculate overtime pay based on hourly rate and hours worked
  • Take Home Pay — Estimate net income after taxes and deductions
  • Tax Estimator — Project your federal and state tax liability
  • Income Breakdown — Visualize your income distribution across pay periods

Our Commitment to Accuracy

Every calculator on SalaryLab is built with real-world data. Our tax calculations use the latest federal and state tax brackets, standard deductions, and FICA rates. Our overtime calculations follow the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) guidelines. We update our datasets quarterly to reflect changes in tax laws and minimum wage rates across all 50 states.

We test all formulas extensively and verify results against known benchmarks. While we strive for 100% accuracy, we always recommend double-checking important calculations with a tax professional or financial advisor.

Why We Built This

The idea for SalaryLab came from personal experience. Our founder, working in finance and technology, saw friends and colleagues struggle to understand their compensation packages. Pay stubs are confusing, job offers can be misleading, and overtime calculations are often wrong.

We built SalaryLab to democratize pay transparency. Whether you're evaluating a job offer, planning a budget, or negotiating a raise, our tools give you the clarity you need — instantly, without barriers.

Our Values

  • Accuracy First: We prioritize correct calculations over speed or features.
  • Privacy Protection: We don't require accounts, collect personal data, or share your information.
  • Accessibility: Our tools work on any device, with or without JavaScript, and follow WCAG guidelines.
  • Transparency: We explain our formulas, assumptions, and data sources openly.
  • Continuous Improvement: We monitor user feedback and update our tools regularly.
